London, Sep 28 (ANI): Charlotte Church has revealed reasons for not marrying father of her kids, Gavin Henson, and also opened up about her new love with guitarist Johnny Powell.

The 24 year-old said Gavin’s time away for trip to the Arctic for ITV show ‘71 Degrees North’ gave them both a chance to take stock of their relationship.

She also said that her new relationship with Powell did not begin until some months after her split from Henson - and confessed she got his blessing before pursuing her new beau.

“[Johnny] is really great, he’s lovely - but to be honest, I’m pretty self-sufficient. It’s all very early stages at the moment. It’s great because we like the same stuff. He’s very intelligent, very clever and he’s an amazing musician. That’s where most of the bond lies. A lot of the time we’re together we write songs, talk about music,” The Daily Mail quoted her as saying.

Henson and Church, who have two young children together, ended their volatile five-year romance in May, only weeks after their engagement.

“He’s a lot more grown up and open. I think he learned a lot about himself and he’d never had time to sit back and reflect before. He’d been so busy with rugby, and that’s such a psychological game. I think that lived in his mind rather than any sort of self-discovery. So he was always quite closed,” she added.

“We had both had a change of heart, so we were both of the same mind,” Church concluded. (ANI)
