Charlie Sheen pens a deal with Lionsgate for new sitcom
June 28th, 2011 - 10:10 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattHollywood, June 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Charlie Sheen has reportedly penned a deal with Lionsgate for a new sitcom. The actor was fired from his high paying job on the highly successful CBS show “Two and a Half Men” earlier in the year.
A source told Radar Online that the 45-year-old has concluded the deal to be part of the show. The report said Sheen’s role in the new show will be similar to the one he was playing on Two and a Half Men.
The website quoted the source as saying that, “Charlie has inked a deal with Lionsgate Television to create and star in a new sitcom. Charlie’s character will be very similar to the one he played on Two And a Half Men, however the show will be a lot racier.”
Some analysts say Lionsgate is gambling with the choice of Sheen. His firing from the Two and a Half Men show followed the off-screen controversies that Sheen was involved in. The height of the controversy was when he was hospitalized for suspected cocaine overdose.
Several networks are fighting to have the right to the new show. The frontrunners include TBS and other notable networks.
