Jan 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Singer cum fiddler-guitarist Charlie Daniels, also known as a country music performer recently suffered a mild stroke and he is recovering from it. This news has been confirmed by the agent of the 73 year old singer. He is presently at his home. The incident took place on Jan 15th 2010. The singer was spending his vacation in Colorado. He was snowmobiling at that time. After the stroke he was admitted to a medical center in Colorado’s Durango. Later he was taken to another hospital in Denver which released him on Sunday. He is doing well now and his publicist has said that there is no possibility of his upcoming concert dates getting canceled.
Charlie Daniels is credited with several pop and country music hits but it was “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” which remains his most popular track that catapulted him in the big league. It fetched him a Grammy award in 1979. Not only that the track was used in the hit 1980 movie “Urban Cowboy” starring John Travolta. The singer had a cameo in the film as well. The singe later said that while he was snowmobiling a sensation of numbness crippled his left arm and hand. That is when he sensed something was wrong with his body.
Charlie Daniels lives in Tennessee and has a vacation home in Durango. In general he spends some time every year in that home during Christmas. The medical tests performed on the singer disclosed that the mild stroke was triggered by a small blood clot which had formed in his brain.
