Chandigarh to welcome 2010 with week-long celebrations
December 19th, 2009 - 4:43 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chandigarh, Dec 19 (IANS) Puppet shows, performances by prominent rock bands and Santa Claus distributing sweets among kids will be part of the week-long events planned here from Dec 25 to herald 2010, an official said Saturday.
The Chandigarh Tourism Department has chalked out the celebrations that also include dance competitions, songs, musical nights, attractive prizes and lights and fire works shows for spectators, the spokesperson said Friday.
”The extravaganza would start with dance and song mania’ on Dec 25 with performances by rock bands and prominent singers. There would be a couple-dance competition titled Dancing sensation of Chandigarh’ and a singing competition titled Voice of Chandigarh’,” the spokesperson said, adding that winners will get free air tickets and shopping coupons.
