Los Angeles, Feb 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Chaka Khan called Whitney Houston a ‘friend’ and ‘little sister’ when she declined the request from the Grammy organizers to perform a tribute for the late singer along with Jennifer Hudson. The 58-year-old was on Piers Morgan’s show to discuss the death Houston.

Khan did not seem to understand why Clive Davis decided to go ahead with the pre-Grammy party despite the fact that Houston had passed away at the same venue just hours earlier.

Khan told Morgan that, “I thought that was complete insanity. Knowing Whitney, I don’t believe she would’ve said the show must go on. She was the kind of woman that would’ve said, ‘Stop everything! Uh uh. I’m not going to be there.’”

Khan was also angry that Houston, a former drug addict, had been flown to LA about a week before she was scheduled to perform. According to her, Houston’s death could have been avoided if someone had not made that decision in the first place. Just a day to the Grammys, Houston’s body was found in a suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Houston’s body was flown to Newark from Los Angeles on Monday. Preparations are ongoing for a private memorial on Saturday.
