The Irish band Celtic Woman is slated to make a special appearance on ABC’s hit show “Dancing With The Stars” tonight. The international ensemble was named #1 Top World Music Artist by the Billboard Magazine and will perform one of their hit numbers “You Raise Me Up” which is originally a Brendan Graham classic.
Dancing With The Stars has had other Irish celebrities on the show. It is a dance show where celebrities perform in front of ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. On last years show, a very popular guest judge was Micheal Flatley and performed a dance from his hit show “Feet of Flames”.
Celtic Woman includes Chloë Agnew, Lynn Hilary, Lisa Kelly, Alex Sharpe and Celtic violinist, Máiréad Nesbitt. They are currently on their 73-cuty US “Isle of Hope” tour that is scheduled to finish on July 2. They are scheduled to play a great combination of Irish standard fan favourites and new music from their compositions. All shows have been sold out and they are given standing ovations at each performance. They are making an appearance on Dancing With The Stars in the middle of the tour. Their newest album is called “The Greatest Journey” and CDs and DVDs of the group has reached platinum sales in the US and South Africa, and are popular even in faraway Australia and Japan. Alongside their male counterpart Celtic Thunder, the group is popular among listeners of all ages with their PBS TV specials and superb live performances.
