Celine Dions AC/DC version voted Worlds Worst Cover SongJune 23rd, 2008 - 1:56 pm ICT by ANI
Melbourne, June 23 (ANI): Celine Dions version of the AC/DC track You Shook Me All Night Long has been named the Worlds Worst Cover Song by Total Guitar magazine.
The Canadian singer has never released the song as a single but performed what the magazine called the musical offence at a Las Vegas concert six years ago in a duet with Anastacia, reports News.com.au.
“The number one worst cover song - Celine Dion covering AC/DC - is sacrilege. The best covers are unlikely choices and they do something radical,” News.com.au quoted the magazine’s editor, Stephen Lawson, as saying.
In second place was a Sugababes and Girls Aloud version of Walk This Way, which was a huge hit for Aerosmith and rappers Run DMC.
Westlifes version of Extremes More Than Words landed the third spot on the list.
Will Youngs cover of The Doors Light My Fire came fourth, while The Mike Flowers Pops reworking of Wonderwall by Oasis was ranked fifth.
The worlds top five worst cover songs are:
1 Celine Dion, You Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC)
2 Girls Aloud/Sugababes, Walk This Way (Run DMC and Aerosmith)
3 Westlife, More Than Words (Extreme)
4 Will Young, Light My Fire (The Doors)
5 The Mike Flowers Pops, Wonderwall (Oasis) (ANI)
