In a shocking incident, celebrity DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday afternoon.
The news has been confirmed by his publicist Jenni Weinman. According to a statement released by the rep., it has been stated, “Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time.”
New York police officer has told Associated Press, it seems that drug paraphernalia had been discovered in the apartment. There is however, no sign of any foul play, according to preliminary investigation. TMZ.com reports that a friend of the 36 year old celebrity DJ and club owner, had gone to his apartment to check on him, after having had no response from him for quite a few days. On knocking on the door, there was no response.
This alerted the friend, who in turn called up the police. The police made their entrance in to the apartment and found the lifeless body of Goldstein. Now, only the medical examiner’s report will determine the cause of the death.
DJ AM has had a history of substance abuse, which makes the discovery of the drug paraphernalia at his apartment all the more suggestive. It is being alleged that a recent break up with girlfriend Hayley Wood could have spurred the drug abuse again. Only a year ago Goldstein survived a plane crash in South Carolina, in which four others had been killed.
