Celebrity Cat Prince Chunk Passes Away

Prince ChunkBlackwood, Nov 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Prince Chunk who had earned a name for himself all through the nation is no more. The big fat cat was only 17 pounds at the time of its death, while he was reported to weigh 44 pounds at the time when he was found by the Camden County Animal Shelter in 2008. The cat’s adoptive owner Vince Damiani, for whom Prince Chunk was a family member said that the animal passed away on Sunday, in his sleep, after suffering from cardiac problems for some time.

Prince Chunk was about 10 years old. Prince Chunk had become a media sensation all because of his grand appearance. The cat had featured in several media coverages carving a royal place for himself. Prince chunk appeared on shows like “Good Morning America”, ”Live with Regis and Kelly”. He even went on to become the face of the cover page of the New York tabloids and many reputed magazines.

The cat had hogged the limelight after his New Jersey owner had lost him in the streets and was discovered by the Camden County Animal Shelter. Soon, Prince Chunk gained fame as he weighed 44 pounds which was almost a world record in itself. However, the Damiani family had later on revealed that they had found the animal weighing 22 pounds, saying that the Camden County Animal Shelter had overestimated the cat. The Damiani were one of the 500 applicants who wanted to take the animal with them. The plight of the cat had lead its owners to open a non profitable organization named Prince Chunk Foundation to help the pet owners who face financial problems to maintain their pets.
