Celebrities Support Overturning Of Proposition 8

Aug 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is celebration time for the gays and lesbians in California. Not only has a federal judge ruled against the controversial Proposition 8 they had been fighting against for a long time but now they have the celebrities on their side as well. The LGBT community and activists in California are celebrating the verdict and rallies are being planned. They have reasons to rejoice as a number of popular stars and actors have expressed their support for the federal court’s verdict on the issue of same sex marriage through various social networking sites. Everyone from pop singer to reality TV stars has said in their social networking accounts that they are happy with the verdict and support it as well.
Britney Spears has given a thumb up to the verdict saying she is in favor of the verdict. She has congratulated the people of California. The same view was echoed by reality TV star Kim Kardashian. She has also written that it is a step in the right direction. Milla Jovovich, the “Resident Evil” actress has also expressed her happiness over the verdict and said that she hopes after this the gay and lesbian couples in California would be treated with equality. Another celebrity who has supported the ruling is Katy Perry.
When other celebrities are speaking out loud about their support for the verdict that legalizes gay marriage, can Ricky Martin be far behind? The hunky Puerto Rican singer who came out as a homosexual a few months back has expressed his heartfelt joy at the verdict. A lot of bisexual and gay celebrities are also excited and they hope with this verdict more closeted celebrities would come out.
