Celebrities Go GreenMarch 5th, 2009 - 1:31 am ICT by GD
If you thought blonds could only star in jokes, think again. Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are the stars in the Green movement.Cameron Diaz is already driving a hybrid car and Hayden Panettiere swam the seas of Japan to rescue endangered whales. The blond babes of our times are making a difference, and how.
Syracuse University joins the stars in making people more conscious and protective about the environment with plans for a green data center on South Campus and fliers telling students to take shorter showers and to turn of taps when brushing. Small steps make big changes. Like Drew Barymore, who’s now carrying an eco-friendly bag that has “Not a Plastic Bag” written on it. The bag is not just cute, it is a great way of telling people that plastic is dangerous to our environment because it fills up landfills around the world. In fact why use plastic when there is recycled paper?
Stars have woken up to the fact that they are responsible citizens too and they are spreading the word around through paparazzi and tabloids that reach thousands of their fans. The “celebrity podium” is finally doing us more good than just visual delight. Jenny
McCarthy and boyfriend Jim Carrey often wear T-shirts that say “There is No Planet B.”
Environmental concerns have always been there on the minds of responsible citizens but it was perhaps Al Gore’s 2006 global warming documentary feature that had celebrities shake up and take note. Lucky they did for they have taken the world by storm in their Green movement and are going all out to make you and me aware of taking the earth for granted.
