Celebrated Humorist, Dave Barry, Subjected To A ‘Pat-Down’ At The Miami Airport
November 17th, 2010 - 7:55 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkNovember 17, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The annoyance and exasperation of the ordinary Americans is intensifying gradually on account of the ultra-stringent security measures that are being adopted in the airports of their homeland, the background to this stringency obviously being the ghoulish terrorist monstrosities in September 2011 in America. Several American voyagers are incensed because of the recent safety steps and procedures of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), one of which is referred to as the ‘pat down’, which involves the scrutiny of the private bodily parts in tandem with the examination of the whole body.
Chris Calabrese, the legislative advice-giver to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), has scathingly stated that Americans are being offensively groped in their national airports. The ACLU has urged the American populace to report any frisking-related misdemeanor in the airports. Some American scientists have expressed their fright that the X-ray scanners may be injurious.
John Pistole, the TSA’s boss, espoused the security measures impassionedly at a congressional hearing on cargo security, arguing that the TSA has to always outsmart the terrorists, which necessitates such stern measures. Countless lawmakers articulated their empathy with the TSA as they have a difficult job of respecting people’s privacy while ensuring that no evil terrorist manages to pass through the airports’ security layers unchecked, especially since this is an era in which the terrorists are keen to spread terror in the sky.
Dave Barry, the well-known humorist and syndicated broadsheet columnist, has also publicized that he was unpleasantly subjected to a ‘pat-down’ recently when his physical scan at the Miami airport engendered alarm. Barry declared that the TSA’s officers informed him that he was suffering from a weird ‘blurred groin’. Barry had to submit himself to a pat-down as the scanned pictures of his body were not precise enough. Barry asserted that he felt like he was being fondled although the TSA officer maintained that the groin of Barry was not being touched vulgarly.
