A new addition to the creepy carvings has been made this year with that of Lady o’ Gaga lantern. Halloween is a time for crazy and freaky ideas that are expressed by people through means such as pumpkin carvings. This year Celebrity faces are supposedly the flavor of the season. There are rumors that a lot of people are planning to carve the face of Justin Bieber. Pictures depicting the would be pumpkin carvings of Justin Bieber are circulating on the net.

Patterns for pumpkin carvings are available online and there is a lot of variety for those who wish to carve their own pumpkins. Though not all patterns appear to be scary it just doesn’t seem right to settle for a meek looking pumpkin lantern. With the majority of the people preparing to scare the hell out of their neighbors on Halloween night, the sales of pumpkins is very high. The price of ready made pumpkin lanterns are high and many are opting to decorate their front porch or doorsteps with their own pumpkin carvings. Many pumpkin carving festivals and competitions will be held on Halloween.

The tradition of Jack o’ lanterns comes from an old Irish folk tale about a man called Stingy Jack. The legend has many variations but the essence is that Stingy Jack was denied entry into both heaven and hell after death and roamed the earth looking for a resting place with a lantern carved out of his favorite food, turnip.
