October 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Director and producer Sanjay Sharma’s much discussed movie is still pending for its release in India due to the objections of Censor Board. The film, which has already received awards at several international film festivals, is yet to get a clearance in India to hit the theaters.
The Censor Board has refused to certify the film if the cuts suggested by the revising committee are not carried out in the final print. The film got stuck since the last two months due to the controversial kissing and love-making scenes between the two lead actors.
The film, which deals with gay relationship, has Kapil Sharma and Yuvraj Parashar in the lead roles. The nudity scene of the film also faced strong objections from Censor Board.
The news has been confirmed by Kapil Sharma, who said that it would be a major compromise if the film goes by all the demands of CBFC. The actor said that these scenes are very vital to showcase the romance between the two men. He added that if the heterosexual kissing scenes are allowed by the Censor Board then why this discrimination is being done in case of the homosexual partners?
Sharma pointed out the fact that the Supreme Court has declared homosexuality legal now so they can move the court if the revising committee sticks to its decision.
Kapil said that the length of these scenes can be reduced because they are already blurred but editing them completely is not at all an option. He added that the film has already made several cuts going by the suggestions of the previous committees.
The actor stated that these so called controversial scenes have been applauded at the international level and the film also won an award at the Queer Film Festival.
Kapil said that one thing is sure that they are going to miss their October 22 deadline.
