London, April 9 (IANS) Duchess of Cambridge Catherine will present a 25,000-pound portrait of her to Prince William on his 30th birthday in June.
The Duchess posed for the canvas artwork painted by royal artist Nicky Philipps while her husband was away on a six-week tour of duty in the Falkland Island, in the South Atlantic Ocean, earlier this year.
“Most couples wouldn’t think a picture of a loved one would be a great present, but this is a big deal. It’s the first portrait Kate has sat for, which is a huge thing for the royals,” thesun.co.uk quoted a source as saying.
William’s father, Prince Charles, is thought to be paying for the present, and the duchess is said to have plenty more gifts for her husband’s birthday June 21.
