haraVancouver, Canada, Mar 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Winter Olympics came to a grand close on Sunday, Feb 28, with performers from the United States and Canada putting the stage on fire with a great musical closing ceremony. Much like the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics 2010, the closing program too turned out to be very Canadian in nature and feel, with the Canadian stars dominating the stage, despite the fact that it was United States that took home the maximum number of prizes. The ceremony featured the likes of Michael Buble, Michael J. Fox, William Shatner, Alanis Morisette and Catherine O’Hara, among others.

The sole dampener was the fact that not many of the participants from all the countries around the world were no longer around to watch the closing ceremony, except for the likes of Evan Lysacek and Lindsey Vonn. Besides the singers, the ones to light up the stage with their antics were the actors, like Michel J. Fox, William Shatner and Catherine O’Hara. Of the three, Catherine O’Hara set the mood with some brilliant raillery at the Canadians, although he good natured jabs were not that well received by all.

The well known comedienne and actress, famous for her roles in films such as the “Home Alone” franchise among others, joked about how terribly the Canadians are in the habit of being polite, and apologizing. In order to emphasize on this fact, she jested that the visitors of the Olympics had already long overstayed their welcome, but the Canadians are too polite to spell it out. While the jokes seemed good enough to some, others felt that they fell quite flat.
