July 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The mystery surrounding the documentary Catfish has recently been clarified by some bloggers on the web though it still manages to be a hot search for its unique marketing strategy. The film was shown at the Sundance Festival and the critics have created quite a stir by calling it a breakthrough film. Some of the bloggers who watched the documentary were not exactly convinced that it was a documentary, but appreciated the unique approach and storytelling of the film.
According to the reports the story of Catfish revolves around the relationships that crop up on the web. A young and upcoming photographer befriends a young girl on a social networking website after the girl sends him a painting based on his photograph. The fascinating talent of the girl interests the photographer a great deal and the documentary is shot by one of his friends who witnessed the strange relationship between the two. There is also a dark side of the story that is revealed to the audience in the later half of the story. None of the bloggers have revealed the climax of the story and also asked readers to avoid any of the spoilers. The film has also been marketed with the tag line that says not to hear it from anyone.
The film trailer also claims it to be true story and not based or inspired by another story. Most of the Sundance festival goers said that the movie is best enjoyed if watched with ‘fresh’ eyes and no preconceived notions. Some of the experts felt that expecting a twist completely changes the perception of the audience entirely.
