Sydney, Sept 6 (ANI): Cate Blanchett and hubby Andrew Upton-Co-directors of the Sydney Theatre Company-consider environmental conservation as their foremost priority.
The couple has reportedly spent more than 1.5 million dollars installing water- and energy-saving technology at their Hunters Hill home.
They now want to raise awareness of sustainability through extensive measures, which they have introduced throughout the heritage Walsh Bay building that house the Sydney Theatre Company.
Blanchett looks up to scientist Tim Flannery and the Australian Conservation Foundation executive director Don Henry as inspirations - especially when she is ‘a little tired and rundown’.
‘We’re there to inspire and provoke - that’s our job,’ the Sydney Morning Herald quoted her as saying.
‘It’s in the mind of the artist the future is imagined. You say that loudly in this country, and you sound pretentious but it is, in fact, true … People, particularly adults, don’t respond well to being told what to do but they can be inspired by something,” she added.
Blanchett has spoken of how significant children are in spreading the message about global warming, in a rare glimpse into her family life.
