Carey Mulligan Nabs The Coveted Role Of Daisy Buchanan In “The Great Gatsby” Remake

The 25 year old actress will be playing the much coveted role of Daisy Buchanan in the remake of “The Great Gatsby”. Speculations were high as who would nab the 2million role in movie but Carey Mulligan managed grab the role beating off big celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman for her role.

Baz Luhrmann, the director of “The Great Gatsby” remake has officially chosen Carey Mulligan as he thought she would be able to do justice to the role. A reputed media source reported that the BAFTA award-winning actress got the news of from Baz Luhrmann through a phone call when she was at Fashion Council Awards in New York. Carey Mulligan will share the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio in F. Scott Fitzergerald’s masterpiece. It has been reported that Baz Luhrmann “work-shopped” with all the leading actresses of Hollywood like Blake Lively, Scarlett Johansson, Michelle Williams, Abbie Cornish, Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman but the director chose Carey Mulligan for the role of Daisy Buchanan.

Some gossip portals reported that Carey Mulligan burst into tears when she got the phone call from Baz Luhrmann. The Australian film director reportedly said that for the role of Daisy Buchanan he had the privilege to work with some of the best actresses of Hollywood and each of them brought their “own particular interpretation” to the role. However, he said that he chose Carey Mulligan as the actress gave a perfect audition. Tobey Maguire nabbed the role of Nick Carraway, the narrator of the novel. The director said that the principal photography of the movie will begin next year.
