London, Mar.27 (ANI): England football coach Fabio Capello has expressed his happiness over the way former captain David Beckham performed in his 100th international in a friendly against France on Wednesday.
I was very happy with Beckhams game. He played like he always does and like I know how he can play. I substituted him because I know how he can play and I know him well, so I could see someone else, The Sun quoted Capello, as saying.
The landmark of 100 caps was never a problem for me. There was no ceremony in the dressing room, he added.
However, it turned out to be a wretched night for England. A Franck Ribery penalty after another David James blunder condemned Capello to his first defeat as England boss.
Capello, who enjoyed a 2-1 win over Switzerland in his first game, said: Ive just told the players Im happy about what they did.
“We made progress compared to the Switzerland game, even though we won that. Im happy because I saw some good things, especially because we were playing against a top-level team.
Another thing Im happy about is that I made the team play in two different ways by switching formation.
Capello insisted his teams confidence would not have been affected by the defeat. (ANI)
