Can Adam Be the Next Lead Singer of Queen?
May 22nd, 2009 - 2:07 am ICT by GD ( Leave a comment )As American Idol came to an end this season with clean cut boy-next-door Kris Allen taking home the title and the goodies, few viewers were surprised to see the flashy and immensely talented “Guyliner” Adam Lambert reduced to a miserable “also ran” even though he took it very gracefully. With the season finale wrapping up, the newest headline to hit the billboard is that Queen and Paul Rodgers have chosen to go separate ways. This obviously raises the question about who fills up for him now? Who gets into the shoes of the legendary Freddie Mercury?
Post American Idol, the obvious answer on viewers’ minds seems to be Adam Lambert. It is not just his on-stage histrionics or solid vocals that set this guy apart, but his in-your-face confidence and bold sexuality has an equally awesome effect. So while Kris Allen spoke about his wife and going to church, Adam Lambert sizzled with the kiss he placed on men and appearing flamboyant in the manner of gay music icons Freddie Mercury and K. D. Lang. He seemed to have just the right kind of stage presence and vocal strength to keep the band afloat and bring back the magic of Freddie Mercury, if only by some margin. This was proved time and again as Adam sang and danced and sizzled the stage with power-packed performances, not to mention the final rendering of “We Are The Champions” with Kris Allen. With a performance like Adam’s very few can do more justice to songs like ‘Somebody to Love’ or ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ on stage.
