cammie-book Sep 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The actress who is best known for her role as the child of Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler in the classic movie entitled ‘Gone With The Wind’ has died at the age of 76 years from complications due to lung cancer. Ms Conlon passed away in her home at Fort Bragg, California on Wednesday while accompanied by her son, Matthew Ned Conlon, and her friend, Bruce Lewis.

At the very young age of four, Conlon was given a very small yet extremely famous and important role when she was cast as Bonnie Blue Butler in the movie which was released in 1939. Her character’s part changed the context of the entire story, since the death of Bonnie after she falls from horse completely ripped the marriage of her parents, Scarlett and Rhett, apart. For the few scenes in which Conlon played as Bonnie, she was paid only one thousand dollars.

The voice of ‘Bambi’ was also played by Conlon, three years after her ‘Gone With The Wind’ appearance. This was her last work as an actress. She told ‘The Press Democrat’ in an interview which she gave last November, “I was washed up at the age of 5.” She was always remembered as “bonnie Blue” and self published a book entitled, ‘Bonnie Blue Butler: A Gone With The Wind Memoir’.
