Cameron planning to move New Zealand
February 3rd, 2012 - 10:35 am ICT by IANSLondon, Feb 3 (IANS) Acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron is preparing to leave California and move to New Zealand to run a farm in the countryside.
According to showbizspy.com, the 57-year-old has purchased more than 1,000 hectares in the Wairarapa region and filed an application with authorities to move in and set up the property as a working farm.
Cameron, currently living in a luxury mansion in Malibu, filed paperwork with the New Zealand Overseas Investment Office (OIO) stating he and his family “intend to reside indefinitely in New Zealand and are acquiring the property to reside on and operate as a working farm”.
“The Cameron family is thrilled to be making a new home in New Zealand. We love the rugged landscape and the spirit of the people here, and are looking forward to becoming resident on our beautiful farm,” a statement from the moviemaker reads.
Cameron is reportedly planning to start filming his upcoming “Avatar” sequel in the country later this year.
