Caine credits Nicholson for rejuvenating career
October 11th, 2010 - 5:38 am ICT by IANSLondon, Oct 11 (IANS) Sir Michael Caine credits Jack Nicholson with reinvigorating his career insisting he was ready to give up on acting before working with the Hollywood hellraiser in 1996.
The veteran British actor, 77, had grown disillusioned with the parts he was being offered as he grew older, and was considering turning his back on the movie industry by the mid-1990s and began to pen his first autobiography instead but after starring with Nicholson in 1996s “Blood and Wine”, Caine admits he began to relish his work again and threw himself into another two decades of back-to-back film roles, reports imdb.com.
“I did write a first part of an autobiography when I thought my life was over. Then I did a movie with Jack called ‘Blood and Wine’ in 1996. Jack and I had been friends for a long time but never worked together,” he said.
“I’d got fed up with making movies. I’d made a few crummy ones and I wasn’t getting any good scripts. Then I worked with Jack and the whole thing was so wonderful. I went back to work and I’ve had another wonderful 20 years of work.
“Jack is fabulous… love him, because he’s one of the best actors I’ve worked with, one of the best people, and one of the best movie stars,” he added.
