Burton, Brolin to team up for ‘The Hunchback…’ remake?
March 2nd, 2011 - 1:56 am ICT by IANSLondon, March 1 (IANS) Director Tim Burton is likely to team up with actor Josh Brolin for the remake of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.
The film is based on Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel. The book was first turned into a film for 1905’s “Esmeralda” and remade with the same title in 1922.
The last major adaptation was in 1996 as an animated Disney movie and a TV action picture starring Mandy Patinkin and Salma Hayek, reports contactmusic.com.
It tells the story of Quasimodo, a deformed and hunchbacked bell-ringer of the Norte Dame cathedral in Paris who tragically falls in love with a beautiful gypsy called Esmerelda.
Brolin will not only act in the film, he is also producing it. While Burton is keen on directing it, he is yet to read the script.
