Nevada, Aug 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Burning Man festival is set to start on Monday. The week-long celebration brings together revelers who will be enduring the hot weather of the Nevada desert.

The event has proven to be huge one in the past. Last year, about 51,515 festival goers were at the event. The organizers expect the number to remain somewhat unchanged this year. The event is organized by Black Rock City, LLC.

The annual event is always slated for the preceding Monday of the American Labor Day. Tickets for the event have already been sold out. The tickets for the event were completely grabbed by revelers by the 24th of July.

The event has come a long way since it began in 1986. When it started, the name was not the Burning Man but rather a bonfire event that drew sizable crowds to the grounds. The first event was organized by Larry Harvey, Jerry James, and some other friends. They burnt a wooden structure which was in the shape of a man. The 9 foot structure of a man also had a smaller wooden dog beside it.

The event after going through several phases finally came together as the Burning Man.

Festival goers paid between $210 and $360 for the ticket.
