Buddhadeb Dasgupta: Nandita Das Wanted Me To Adapt Tagore Onscreen
December 10th, 2010 - 2:57 pm ICT by Sampurn Wire
And since it was a children’s film that Nandita Das had wanted him to do, Buddhadeb Dasgupta first rounded up on ‘Dakghar’ as his third Hindi project. As an afterthought, Buddhadeb Dasgupta considered that ‘Dakghar’ had already been adapted for the big screen and hence comparisons will evidently crop up. Therefore it was ‘Sey’ for the National Award winning filmmaker. ‘Sey’ narrates a conversation between a grandfather and his grandchild and the stories that he narrates to the child about a fictitious character. While Barun Chanda is Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s grandfather, Aratrika Ghosh plays the child and Ashok Shivpuri plays Sey, the fictional character of the grandfather.
Buddhadeb Dasgupta has worked in earlier Hindi films like Andhi Gali and Bagh Bahadur.
