New York City, Dec 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Television personality Bryant Gumbel has revealed that he is fighting a battle with lung cancer and had a magliant tumor removed from his lungs two months ago.

This information was revealed when he appeared on the “Live! With Regis and Kelly,” show. He was filling in for Regis Philbin, one of the co-hosts of the show. Apparently he revealed the information to his temporary co-host Kelly Ripa on the show back-stage.

Ripa was quiet excited as she was talking about working out on the show with guest Julianne Hough of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” when Gumbel said he could not participate, explaining he had a note from his doctor which forbade him from strenuous activity of any kind even golf.

“I kept it private,” Gumbel said, noting that he had told only a few people, and had chosen not to disclose his treatment, even to producers at his current regular post on HBO’s “Real Sports.”

He was also in the race to get Tiger Woods interview post his affairs and accidents. Bryant Gumbel has a show ‘Real Sports’ on HBO.
