Brooke Shields London, Oct 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An ages old nude photograph of Brooke Shields in which she is just 10 years old was due to go on display at the Tate Modern in London. The child actress is shown, standing naked in a bathtub, staring directly into the camera, with a heavily done up face and an oiled body.

However the picture was removed from a major exhibition at the Tate Modern, following a police pornography probe, due to a complaint by child exploitation groups.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said they were working with gallery staff to ensure they do not “break the law or cause any offense to their visitors.”

A Tate spokesman said: “As with any artwork that contains challenging imagery, Tate has sought legal advice and evaluated the situation. Tate has taken measures to inform visitors of the nature of the work, providing information outlining the intentions of the artist.”

The nude picture of the actress, best known for starring in The Blue Lagoon, and for marrying Andre Agassi, was due to go on show on Thursday as an integral showstopper of the Pop Life: Art In A Material World exhibition.

Scotland Yard officials said they met with Tate bosses on Wednesday.

“The officers have specialist experience in this field and are keen to work with gallery management to ensure that they do not inadvertently break the law or cause any offence to their visitors,” they said in a statement.

Jack Bankowsky, the exhibition’s co-curator, previously said he hoped the artistic interest would not be overshadowed by controversy over its content.
