Brody Drawn By The Disturbing Elements Of Splice

June 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Adrien Brody revealed that the disturbing elements in his latest film, Splice, had him interested. He said that he i got excited by the script and couldn’t wait for production to start. Brody added that he got fascinated by the growing level of madness while reading the script.

The story of Splice revolves around the genetic engineers who achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals, to create incredible new hybrids. These scientists secretly conduct experiments on blending human DNA with that of an animal, creating a creature that exhibits uncommon intelligence. The creature shows surprising physical development too and becomes the worst nightmare of the scientist, who ignored the ethical and legal restrictions during while experimenting.

Broody said that the science fiction element of the film doesn’t seem unreal as technology has reached a level where such a thing can occur.

Splice has actors Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley playing the central roles and was filmed in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario.

It has been directed by Vincenzo Natali, who has also written the screenplay along with Doug Taylor and Antoinette Terry Bryant. The premiere for the film took place at the Sitges Film Festival, where it won the Best Special Effects award. It also got a wide release in the United States on June 4, 2010, with Warner Bros. handling the distribution.
