‘Britney Spears Dead’ Rumors Untrue

Britney SpearsThe past week had brought with it a wave of sad and heart breaking news, reporting celebrity deaths one after the other. First Ed Mcmahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and then Billy Mays, all passed away in a sudden and abrupt manner. Moreover adding confusion to this shock is the fact that over the last few days the internet has seen a plethora of hoaxes and rumors on death of celebrities like Harrison Ford, Jeff Goldblum, music mogul Diddy, talk show host Ellen Degeneres and now Britney Spears.

All Spears fans got the shock of their lives when the post on her ‘Twitter’ account last night read, “Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come.” The post was supposedly on the Princess of Pop’s Twitter account, which gave fans more reason to be horrified by the news because it seemed to be authentic. The whole cyber world was set in a frenzied state following this, to verify whether the news was true or not.

The Tweet as well as the Twitpic were both deleted just as quickly and abruptly as it had emerged. To get to the bottom of the whole murky situation, Tweetmeme, a service which finds the ‘hottest stories on twitter’, obtained the evidence that the Tweet had actually not emerged from Britney’s account. It was just the doing of a prankster or a hacker, who had hacked his way in to Britney’s Tweeter account.

It is being predicted that the hacker did not actually hack Spears’ Twitter account but might have used some other options or methods to post on Twitpic.
