Washington, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The video for Britney Spears’ single Criminal has been unveiled. According to MTV.com, the video is scheduled to be played for the first time online this week.

The song was the fourth single that the singer released on her hit album Femme Fatale. The video which was shot at a location in London has already generated controversy. Spears has been criticized for holding a gun in the video but she has defended herself saying it was just a fantasy story and nothing serious.

The video received the criticism from certain quarters in the United Kingdom last month. Critics said the singer was promoting violence and promiscuity with the scenes in the video but she says none of the stuff is real and does not relate to any group in society.

Member of Parliament for Hackney, Diane Abbott told ITV that, “It is only a music video, but it’s images like this, with pop stars glamorizing gangs, which means that some young people … get drawn in. Britney should really know better.”

The singer was forced to release a statement which said that, “The video is a fantasy story featuring Britney’s boyfriend, Jason Trawick, which literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened”
