Britney Spears Los Angeles, April 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Britney Spears’ latest album “Femme Fatale” has sold almost 300,000 copies and moved to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. The album was released last week and this is the sixth time that the singer’s album has moved to the top of the chart in the first week.

276,000 copies is far shorter than the 505,000 copies that her 2008 album Circus sold in the first week. Nonetheless the first week sales of the “Femme Fatale” album have been weak. It was estimated before the release of the album that it would sell between 280,000 and 300,000 in the first week.

Britney has had highly successful debuts. All her albums with the exception of her 2007 album “Blackout” ended up at the top of the charts in the first week of their release. Ironically “Blackout” which ended its first week at the second of the charts sold a decent 290,000 copies in its first week.

The top 5 on the chart is completed by Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s “Rolling Papers” which sold 197,000 copies; Adele’s “21″ was No. 3 with 94,000 copies sold; Chris Brown’s “F.A.M.E.” sold 91,000 copies to settle at four with “Songs for Japan” at the fifth position with 71,000 copies sold.
