British Actress Archie Panjabi Wins Primetime Emmy

archie Aug 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) British actress Archie Panjabi outshined many of the actors at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards which aired last night (Sunday) when she won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, for her role in the ‘CBS’ show ‘The Good Wife’ in which she plays Kalinda Sharma.

The nominees for this category included her co-star on The Good Wife, Chistine Baranski, Sharon Gless from ‘Burn Notice’, Rose Byrne from ‘Damages’, and ‘Mad Men’s’ Christina Hendricks.

Archie was born in London, England, in May of 1972. She lived for a short time in Mumbai as a child, and graduated from Brunel University in London. Her first role was in 1999 for her appearance in ‘East is East’. She has also played parts in the movies, ‘Bend it Like Beckham’, ‘The Constant Gardner’ and ‘A Mighty Heart’, which also starred Angelina Jolie, whom she mentioned in her acceptance speech, and considers “an inspiration.”

Archie won awards for her part in the movie ‘Yasmin’ for ‘Best Actress’ at the Reims Festival as well as a ‘Shooting Star Award’ at the ‘Berlin International Film Festival’. Although she has had roles in several television shows, ‘The Good Wife’ is her first American work.

As she accepted her Emmy she said, “When I started in the business in England, just getting a job was a dream. And to receive an Emmy now is just beyond my wildest dreams.”

“This is just amazing for my career. Thank you so much.” Indeed! Archie added.
