Washington, Oct 3 (ANI): Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt continued their global vacation with a visit to an Iraqi refugee camp in Syria.
Jolie visited Syria in her role as the goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN’s refugee agency, reports People magazine.
A UNHCR statement quoted the Tomb Raider actress as saying: “Most Iraqi refugees cannot return to Iraq in view of the severe trauma they experienced there, the uncertainty linked to the coming Iraqi elections, the security issues and the lack of basic services…. They will, therefore, be in need of continued support from the international community.
The 34-year-old Jolie had also met refugees in Iraq two months ago and visited Somali refugees in Africa recently.
The pair recently spent some quality time in Ethiopia, the south of France and on the Mediterranean coast. (ANI)
