Brandon Rickman: Another “black horse” to win a reality showJune 4th, 2009 - 7:47 pm ICT by GD
Year 2009, seems to be the year of the dark horses in the world of reality shows. The recently concluded season of the American Idol witnessed the crowning of the not so favorite Kris Allen as the next American Idol. Again, young Shawn Johnson surprised everyone by winning the, “Dancing with the stars” contest.
The case was no different for the season two of the show, “Make me a Supermodel.” Branden Rickman, the 18 year old boy from Central Point, Oregon was supposedly the “black horse” of the show. Experts felt that Rickman would miss the top position because of his lack of experience. However, he proved everyone wrong when he was announced as the winner of the second season of “Make Me a Supermodel.”
Of the three guys who made it to the finals, which included Jonathan Waud and Sandhurst Miggins from Tobogo, Rickman was the youngest and the most inexperienced. Throughout the season he failed to win a single photo shoot challenge, but all’s well that ends well and for Rick the contest certainly ended ‘well’. Apart from winning the $100,000 cash prize sponsored by Maybelline, New York, and a one year contract with New York Model Management, he has also received a fashion pictorial in Cosmopolitan magazine. This surely sounds so much for a young lad of 20, but that’s what makes such reality shows tick.
The charming Englishman, Jonathan Waud, must be really disappointed with the result as he was the favorite, the most deserving and everyone thought that he would go on to win the title. But all his hopes were shattered when Branden Rickman was declared as the winner of the reality show.
