Oct 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The death anniversary of ‘Boyzone’ star Stephen Gately was observed by his fans all across the globe on Sunday. Although the ardent followers of Stephen Gately came together to remember the noted musical artist on his first death anniversary, it seems that his family and partner Andrew Cowles are still at loggerheads with each other. The 33-year-old ‘Boyzone’ star passed away due to natural causes on 10 August 2009.

Stephen Gately was remembered by his family members and close friends in a memorial ceremony that was held on Sunday at the Dublin church. However, his partner Andrew Cowles was conspicuous by his absence. Multiple news sources have reported that the late singer’s partner is in disagreement with his family over the past few weeks regarding where the ashes of Stephen Gately would be spread. While the family wanted the ashes to be scattered in Ireland, Andrew Cowles felt that the ashes should be spread in London where the couple lived together. A source close to the Gately family is said to have earlier revealed to the media that Stephen Gately’s partner would not be present in the service in which the Boyzone star’s ashes would be scattered due to the disagreement between the two parties.

At the same time, a spokesperson of the Gately family has divulged to media outlets that over the last few days, Andrew Cowles has been invited multiple times to attend the ceremony but he has not responded to any of them. Stephen Gately’s ashes were spread in Dalkey Bay on Sunday by his parents as well as his other family members and friends and the ceremony was followed by a memorial service.
