May 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Crystal Bowersox sang a breathtaking rendition of Up To The Mountain on Tuesday night, the night of the American Idol finale. The judges were awed, the audience was moved, and the world paused for a moment. What fans did not know was that her boyfriend had decided to break things off earlier that day…the very day of the finalist competition.

“[My boyfriend] Tony, he went home. He wasn’t cool with the lifestyle,” she told Ryan Seacrest during a radio interview for his show on 102.7 KIIS-FM. “We were having breakfast and he just decided he’s a small-town guy and I don’t blame him for anything. He’s been amazing. He’s been my rock through all of this. It’s alright,” she says.

Crystal went on to say, “We’re both logical, grown adults, he’s a small town guy and it’s fine. But I’m a small town girl but I want this. I want this more than anything — this career, this lifestyle. I didn’t think he was up for it. He didn’t think he was up for it.” In an interview with People magazine, Tony Kusian, Crystal’s former boyfriend stated, ” I want to keep it low key. I don’t need the attention.”

Although Crystal admits that she was a little sad that he chose to split on performance day, she knows that it had everything to do with the fire in her belly as she sang that night. Kara offered the young star this advice, “You have to do your music, it’s not a choice for you. It’s what makes you whole. If somebody can’t hang with that — I’m sure he’s a lovely guy but right now this is your dream.”
