Boy George read classics during jail stint
October 20th, 2009 - 5:31 pm ICT by ANILondon, October 20 (ANI): Disgraced pop star Boy George has revealed that he dug his nose in a string of classic novels during his time in the prison.
The former Culture Club frontman, real name George O’Dowd, was jailed in January for falsely imprisoning a male escort in his flat and beating the 29-year-old after a drug-fuelled nude photo shoot in 2007.
The 48-year-old was granted early release in May following his good behaviour.
“I felt strong throughout the whole thing because I knew there was a beginning and an end to it,” the Daily Star quoted him as saying.
“So for me it was a matter of, ‘Okay, so this is how long I’ll be here, what am I going to do with the time?’
“I read everything I could. I read Bleak House, The Catcher in the Rye, The Ginger Man, A Confederacy of Dunces,” he added. (ANI)
