Boy breaks Guinness record after playing guitar for 53 hrs
June 25th, 2008 - 10:11 pm ICT by ANI Agra, June 25 (ANI): Akash Gupta has made his way into the Guinness Book of Records by playing non-stop guitar for 53 hours in Agra.
This fourteen-year-old, class IXth student of St. Peter’s began his record breaking attempt on Sunday morning.
On Tuesday, he broke the previous record of 44 hours held by American Brian Engelhart, Guinness Book of Records representative Reilf Hann said.
Expressing gratitude for support and cooperation to the people of Agra, Akash said he was now trying to better his own record.
I would like to thank people of Agra who have supported me throughout. Only with their help, I was able to organise this programme in which I have broken the previous record. I will now try to better my own record,” Akash said.
Reilf Hann presented a Guinness Book of Records certificate to Akash, after monitoring the attempt. After breaking the record at 6:31 am, he continued to play till he surpassed his Limca Book of Records time of 53 hours.
Hann said that Akash showed a lot of stamina while breaking the record.
He had a lot of dedication and concentration and I am very pleased with his record,” said Reilf Hann.
Mayor of Agra, Anjula Singh, who had come to encourage this young protegee, crowned Akash for the feat.
Chayya Gupta, mother of Akash also thanked the people of Agra for supporting her son throughout.
He faced many problems for achieving this feat. The people of Agra have supported him a lot. That is why he could break the record, said Chayya Gupta. (ANI)
