May 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After having emergency surgery on his back, Bono, whose real name is Paul Hewson, was simply not able to go on the road and make the scheduled U2’s North American Tour, which included a stop off at Spartan Stadium on June 30. The tour will now be postponed until 2011.

Bono, the lead singer for U2, has recently been discharged from Ludwig Maximilians-University (LMU) Hospital in Munich, after under going the spinal surgery on Friday. If he is to fully recover, he will need to follow doctor’s orders and begin a rehabilitation program during his eight week recuperation. His doctor, Dr. Muller Wohlfahrt stated “Bono suffered severe compression of the sciatic nerve. On review of his MRI scan, I realized there was a serious tear in the ligament and a herniated disc, and that conservative treatment would not suffice, I recommended Bono have emergency spine surgery with Professor Tonn at Munich’s LMU University Hospital on Friday.”

The manager of U2, Paul McGuinness stated that the band’s “biggest and I believe best tour has been interrupted and we’re all devastated. For a performer who lives to be on stage, this is more than a blow. He feels robbed of the chance to do what he does best and feels like he has badly let down the band and their audience. … His concerns about more than a million ticket buyers whose plans have been turned upside down, we all share, but the most important thing right now is that Bono make a full recovery. We’re working as fast as we can with ‘Live Nation’ to reschedule these dates.” They hope to release the new dates soon, and fans are encouraged to keep their tickets. Tour dates can be found here .
