London, May 22 (ANI): Irish rock band U2 headlining at Glastonbury looks doubtful after its main vocalist Bono had to be rushed to hospital for emergency back surgery.

The band has already cancelled the first date of their US tour after Bono, 50, real name Paul Hewson, hurt himself during rehearsals, and was hospitalised on May 21.

A band spokesman said the singer will spend the next few days in hospital in Munich, Germany.

“Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

His injury comes barely four weeks before the band is due to play for the first time at the Somerset festival on June 25.

“We hope to get things resolved as soon as possible,” Paul McGuinness, who manages the band, added.

The band has already postponed their Salt Lake City gig in Utah. (ANI)
