Bond Movie Cancelled

bond1 July 7, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): James Bond, the super secret spy created by Ian Flaming has kept the audiences enthralled for decades; however there’s bad news brewing now. The 23rd James Bond movie has been cancelled. This would definitely come as a shock for die hard Bond fans but the reality is harder than it seems. It’s been said that the Bond movie was canned since Metro Golden Mayer, the iconic production company better known as MGM is a facing severe cash crunch.

Earlier Reuters reported that the upcoming Bond flick had been indefinitely cancelled since the whole studio was up for grabs in an auction. Daniel Craig was again to star as the most popular spy in the whole world.

According to Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, the producer for the Bond films jointly declared previously that due to MGM’s uncertainty of existence the film has been suspended for now. The film was suspended as per previous reports till the studio could get out of the cash problem that they faced. Recently, ITN have reported that the company with the responsibility to produce the entire James Bond movie has backed out.

No one could comment on the situation and help the Bond-buffs breathe a sigh of relief. Sam Mendes was roped in to direct the 23rd Bond movie but it’s totally uncertain as to when the film would be resurrected.

The 22nd James Bond film had earned a sum of $1.6 billion in USA and Canada through ticket sales. It was poised at No.3 on the revered list of the most successful film franchises. “The movies Quantum of Solace” and “Casino Royale” earned $586 million and $594 million respectively.
