Bond bosses deny writer troubles
April 14th, 2010 - 4:05 pm ICT by ANILondon, April 14 (ANI): Bond bosses have dismissed rumours that the next 007 movie is in trouble after reports emerged that screenwriter Peter Morgan quit the project because of the appointment of director Sam Mendes.
Morgan, 47, who penned screenplays for critically acclaimed films like ‘Frost/Nixon’ and ‘The Queen’, is said to have been hired to work on the 23rd Bond movie.
But reports over the weekend suggested that he had quit the project, and his departure was linked to the recent arrival of Mendes, who is rumoured to be planning to replace him with ‘Closer’ creator Patrick Marber.
But a spokesman for Hollywood studio MGM has dismissed the story as gossip.
“The filmmakers say the Morgan/Marber switch is just speculation,” the Daily Express quoted him as telling the Daily Telegraph newspaper. (ANI)
