Boman Irani and Shiamak Davar launch The Book ‘Dahanu Road’

August 23, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Boman Irani a veteran film actor along with Shiamak Davar an ace choreographer and the winner of the Presidents National Award were present at Anosh Irani’s book launch “Dahanu Road’ on Saturday at a Bandra’s Reliance Time Out. Boman and Shiamak mingled well at the launch along with the writer Anosh and did the short reading of the book. With warm regards and proud feeling Boman showcased his loved for his nephew. He recollected their childhood when use to pen down things together but he had never expected that Anosh would turn into such a beautiful writer. Having read his book Boman not only discovered Anosh’s immense talent but also expressed his desire to work on a film script . Shaimak also got nostalgic and remembered the moment when them along with Boman had gone to the airport to See off Anosh for his first . It is a proud moment to stand up on the stage to launch my favourite pal’s book He said. Also present to grace the event were Sooni Ta and Govind Nilhani
About Dhanau Road: Harper Collins has published Anosh Irani’s (nephew of Boman Irani) DAHANU ROAD in India. Dahanu Road is a love story between a young Irani man and a local woman who works as a labourer on his chickoo farm in the town of Dahanu. It also traces the history of the Zoroastrians who fled persecution in Iran and came to India.
About Anosh Irani: An Indian-Canadian novelist and playwright. An Irani born and raised in Mumbai, moved to Vancouver in 1998 to study and pursue writing. His first novel “The Cripple and His Talismans’ in 2004 won critical acclaim for its magic realist depiction of the seedy beggars’ underworld of India.His second novel, The Song of Kahunsha, was chosen as a CBC Book Club One pick, and was selected for the 2007 edition of Canada Reads. His third novel “Dahanu Road’,is a humorously dark love affair between an Irani boy and local girl. The story proudly depicts the Iranian community.
Boman who has read his nephew Anosh’s book with keen interest feels, “The novel is very captivating and brings out the true Iranian culture. It makes me feel very proud that someone has taken the initiative to rediscover our community by exploring a new enterprise and breaking the norm of being a yet another bakery boy.”
