Mumbia, August 24 (ANI): Bollywood director Santosh Sivan spoke about his new directorial venture ”Tahaan”, a fable about an eight-year-old boy and his donkey.

The film has been extensively shot at picturesque town Pahalgaam in Jammu and Kashmir .

The film ”Tahaan” is produced under the banner of ”I Dream Productions”.

Award winning director Sivan is best known for films Asoka, ”The Terrorist” and ”Before the Rains”.

Sivan’’s Tahaan stars Purav Bhandare, Rahul Bose, Anupam Kher, Sarika, Victor Banerjee and Rahul Khanna.

Tahaan is a fable-like journey of the eponymous eight-year-old boy, whose life revolves around the pursuit to find real purpose in his little world.

Speaking to the media Sivan said that he thought of making this film after reading a report in a newspaper.

I thought of making it (the newspaper report) into a film but may be making it into a way that it’’s like a fable with morals and things like that but unlike moral it has a lot of surprises. But basically its about a journey of a boy who goes to find his donkey back and through his journey he meet all these interesting characters and its a very big tussle for the boy to go and get his donkey back. So during this event there are so many things that happen, said Sivan.

On being asked why did he choose Kashmir as the backdrop, Sivan said, Its (the setting of the film) about something that you can relate to because it is a place like Kashmir which is always in the news for conflict and in todays world people relate to such things all over the world. So it has a universal appeal too.

The film is slated for September 5 release. (ANI)
