So far it was Holi, Diwali, Ganesh and Durga Puja along with Christmas and New Year that caught the fancy of the Bollywood. Now the time has come when Makar Sankranti has caught on too and it’s time to wish the fans on the social networking and microblogging sites. Hence after heart shaped balloons, chocolate and teddies for Valentine’s Day it’s now time for the kites.
Bollywood reminded what it is to be like desi again by wishing the fans to eat gur (jiggery) and fly kites on the eve of Makar Sankranti. So far this harvesting festival that Indians follow has been quite a regional affair and not a national event. Each region and state have their unique way of celebrating the harvesting festival, but it’s great to know that it is becoming a national event.
On Friday while Dia Mirza wished everyone Makar Sankranti and spoke about flying kites and reminiscing her childhood days, Ritesh Deshmukh and Madhur Bhandarkar decided to go the traditional way. The Fashion director and the Housefull actor used the Marathi lingo to wish their fans on Twitter, and Abhishek Bachchan tweeted that there are lot of reasons to be happy about as it is Pongol, Bihu and Makar Sankranti.
Even Vivek Oberoi asked his fans to celebrate this harvesting festival in grand way. Ameesha Patel too wished her fans and others on Twitter.
