fredigOct 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Atlanta Braves will have a new manager and it will be none other than Fredi Gonzalez. Though the official announcement of the change will take place on Thursday, the news leaked to the media on Tuesday itself. The move comes after present Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox his retired after the Atlanta Braves were eliminated by the San Francisco Giants in the playoffs. Bobby Cox will hold a press conference on Wednesday.

Bobby Cox’s announcement of his retirement became a rather emotional affair when he announced his retirement. He said that he wanted to win this game and felt emotional. He added that though it was the last time that he was putting on the familiar No.6, it did not feel like it. Fredi Gonzalez who takes over his position, according to the reports, has a 276-279 record with the Marlins in his three and a half year stint as their manager. He was fired after his row with a owner of the team regarding the benching of a player. Experts feel that there will be some heavy expectations on the new manager who takes over from the legendary Bobby Cox.

The relationship between the Atlanta Braves staff and Fredi Gonzalez started from the time that Fredi Gonzalez was the manager of the Marlins. During his stay in Atlanta, Fredi Gonzalez had reportedly come close to Bobby Cox and the Atlanta Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell. With a record that was just two games below .500, it looks like the Atlanta Braves will have a lot of new changes not only in terms of staff but also in terms of strategy and planning.
