bobdylan63-12athOct 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The synagogue where legendary singer Bob Dylan had his bar mitzvah at the age of 13 is up for sale. The owners of the building, which was later converted to apartments in the 1980s, are hoping that the connection to Bob Dylan might help sell the property. Brenda Shafer Pellinen and her husband own the building presently and are hopping to sell the apartment which is on No.8 of the Bob Dylan Walk Tour. The couple have reached out to the fans of the ‘Sera’ star and have set the asking price at $119,000.

The synagogue was converted to an ordinary apartment after the congregation department but it still holds significance for the die hard fans of Bob Dylan. Considering that the bar mitzvah celebrates the turning of a boy into a man in orthodox Jewish tradition, many feel it signifies an important time in the life of one of the most influential figures in music today. The building still has the original stained glass windows one of which also has a Star of David.

The couple were planning to convert the building into a bed and breakfast after they purchased it in 2001. In spite of the connection to the legendary folk/country artist, their plans never materialized and now they want to sell it off. Brenda Shafer Pellinen explained that the fans who like Bob Dylan, actually love him with a lot of devotion and thus the property might be of interest to them. Apart from being a rather expensive collectible for the Bob Dylan fans, the building could also serve as a duplex or a single family home.
