Mar 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bob Barker, who is known for his stint in the popular game show name ‘Price Is Right’ has given a whopping $2.5 million dollars to PETA as donation. The money will be used to build up an office in Los Angeles. The new office at Los Angeles will be used to accommodate the marketing, media, youth outreach departments etc. The 86 year old former show host gave a nice speech at the ribbon cutting ceremony. He said in his speech that he has a high opinion of PETA for its contribution to animal welfare activities. However, he admitted that the group will require at least $4 million dollars more to revamp the building. He hinted that he could donate more in future.
The new office of PETA will also result in the creation of around 100 job openings in Los Angeles. Bob Barker is a supporter of animal rights himself. The ribbon cutting ceremony was also attended by Ingrid E. Newkirk, the president of PETA. The building is going to be named after Bob barker, as it has been reported. PETA praised Bob Barker in lavish terms saying that he has played a pivotal role in championing the right of animals.
A few days back Bob Barker got embroiled in a controversy when Sea Shepherd, an anti-whaling group used a boat named after him and it was raided by the cops in Australia. However, PETA believes that it will be able to concentrate on its activities after the building is restored and it employs the required number of employees in Los Angeles.

Animal welfare would be better served if Mr Barker had divided that money between 50-100 local animal welfare groups. The local groups do hundreds of times more good than PETA with much less money.
